Invergowrie STEM Hub
Deakin University, University of Melbourne and Swinburne University of Technology
The Invergowrie Foundation is supporting a collaboration between Deakin University, University of Melbourne and Swinburne University of Technology to research and develop an innovative online hub that encourages girls to participate in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) opportunities.
The STEM hub will provide teachers, carers and students with compelling STEM engagement opportunities with the project focusing across the education continuum: preschool, primary school and secondary school, and in particular on building STEM identity in early childhood education.
The STEM Hub project team will work collaboratively across three themes: STEM Experience, STEM Awareness and STEM Practices and Resources.
They will curate the ‘best of’ existing STEM website activities and links, as well as create content and resources that focus on the needs of girls and diversity.
The Hub will also address unconscious bias and stereotyping, the role of career education, the need to include carers in STEM education and the requirement for targeted professional learning for teachers and career educators.
