Dr. Anne Sarros
B.A, Dip.Ed., B.Ed., M.Ed., Ph.D., MACE
Former Principal, Firbank Grammar School
Dr Anne Sarros chose early on in her teaching career to pursue further study and she completed a Graduate BEd at the University of Melbourne. Following this study she further completed an MEd and a PhD in Educational Administration also from Melbourne University.
During the years of study Anne continued to teach in secondary schools, but did have the intention to become an academic as she also worked at both Melbourne and Monash Universities. Anne was among a handful of women in the 1980’s studying Educational Administration and had co-written numerous articles and a book based on her research.
However, Anne decided to direct her energies into teaching in schools and together with a colleague co-authored a very successful VCE English text book which was used widely in Victorian school classrooms. She has also contributed to research and articles on school leadership.
Anne has held positions as classroom teacher, Head of Yr 12, Head of English, and Deputy Principal, variously in both government and independent schools. Most recently, Anne was Principal of Firbank Grammar School, Brighton, Victoria. She retired in December 2013, and is now currently serving on two Boards and subsequent sub-committees all related to Education and service to the community.
